As exciting as it is to have a new roof on your home, the process of roof installation can seem stressful and disruptive. Having a crew work on your home can potentially be a disruption to your daily life. It is a genuine concern that many homeowners consider and even worry about.
Our job is to make the roof installation as smooth of a process as possible. In this article, you will learn:
Preparation and Tear-Off
The morning of the installation day, the crew arrives early, usually around sunrise. Before anything begins, our crew lead will introduce themselves, explaining the plan for the day and answering any questions you may have.
The first step of the process is protecting your property. Our crew begins by laying tarps around your landscaping and moving anything that could be affected by debris in the process.
After your home is protected during the installation, the next step is to remove your old shingles. As we begin to remove the old shingles, we inspect the wood underneath, searching for any signs of rotted or damaged wood. We document the before and after through photos and notes so the homeowner sees what we see.
Installation Begins
The next step in the process is to begin installing the underlayment, which acts as a waterproof barrier. After any rotted wood is removed and the foundation is strong, the underlayment is laid to act as a waterproof barrier to prevent damage to your roofing foundation.
Shingle or metal panel installation begins. The transformation happens fast; by lunchtime, most homes have a completely new look.
Finishing and Cleanup
By late afternoon, many roofs are finished. For larger or more complex roofs, like those with steep slopes, multiple layers, or even skylights, the timeline may be adjusted slightly. These may take an extra day or two to ensure quality craftsmanship tailored to your home’s design. Even then, our crew plans carefully so your home is never exposed overnight.
Cleanup isn’t just part of our process; it’s a core part of our promise. Here’s exactly how we handle it.
